Benjamin Mbunga Kimpioka signed for Saints in the first week of January of 2024 from Swedish club AIK and he made his debut in the Scottish Cup tie away to Airdrieonians.
23 years old at the time of joining Saints on an 18 month contract, Benji was born in Sweden and began his footballing career with IR Sirius in his homeland.
However, it was with Sunderland that his career developed when he joined their academy set-up in July 2016 and just over two years later he was starting to make an impression at the Stadium of Light.
In the space of five weeks in the autumn of 2018 he made his first team debut for the Black Cats in the EFL Trophy and then a league debut in a League One match against Peterborough United.
Over the next few weeks, Benji scored his first goals in each of those competitions but with first team chances on Wearside few and far between over the next few months, he had spells on loan with Torquay United and Southend United.
In March 2022 Benji decided to make a return to Sweden where he joined AIK Stockholm and a year later he was on loan again, this time to previous European opponents of St Johnstone, FC Luzern.
An undisclosed fee brought him to Perth.
