Players return for testing as Rooney officially joins Club
22nd June 2020
We are delighted to confirm that full-back Shaun Rooney has officially joined the Club on a free transfer on a two-year-deal, after leaving Inverness Caledonian Thistle upon the expiry of his contract.
23-year-old Rooney - who also lists Queen's Park, Dunfermline, York City and Queen of the South among his former clubs - reported to McDiarmid Park this morning where he was officially unveiled before taking part in COVID-19 testing alongside his new teammates.
Speaking to the official website earlier today, Shaun said: "I'm delighted to be here. It's my first crack at the Premiership and I'm ready to make the step up.
"I'm looking forward to working with the Manager and I will be working hard from the very first session to hopefully impress.
"Obviously I am good friends with Jamie McCart who I played with at Inverness and was actually living with him before he moved here in January!
"I know Jason Kerr as well from our time at Queen of the South. It's good to be here alongside them and I'm looking forward to getting back to training with all the lads."
It was an unusual first day at the office for Shaun, who took part in COVID-19 testing which he says is as uncomfortable as it looks!
"It's not comfortable at all," he said, "and my nose is still feeling a bit dodgy! I'm just glad we're getting it done and all going well we can get back out on the training pitch later this week."
