U18s: St Johnstone 3-0 Dunfermline
9th August 2024
Our under-18s recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Dunfermline at McDiarmid Park on Friday evening.
We took the lead with little over 10 minutes on the clock when Arran Brookfield’s effort initially bounced back off the crossbar. James Muir, however, was alert to follow in and head over the line.
The young Saints, playing with a strong wind behind them, pushed for another as the half progressed and Callan Hamill nodded off the bar from a Brodie Dair corner.
Murray Binnie twice fancied his chances from the edge of the box but, on both occasions, his attempts were unable to find the target.
We continued to look threatening after the interval and Dair was sent through on goal but he couldn’t find a way past the goalkeeper.
Moments later, however, he found himself racing through again and this time sent a beautiful finish into the bottom corner.
Two went to three shortly after when Brookfield’s cross from the right was turned into his own net by a Dunfermline defender.
Saints saw the game out comfortably to make it back-to-back wins to begin the Club Academy Scotland Performance League season.
