St Johnstone WFC: Boroughmuir (A) preview

St Johnstone WFC hit the road this Sunday in the ScottishPower Scottish Women’s Premier League 2.

Preparations have been taking place for the league fixture against third-placed Boroughmuir Thistle at Meadowbank Stadium.

Kick-off in the capital will be 1pm and all support would be appreciated.

Saints, who sit sixth in the table, are looking to bounce back from a narrow 3-2 defeat against Kilmarnock last weekend.

“Last weekend, we weren’t at it in the first half,” Manager Josh Henderson said. “If you give a team like Kilmarnock chances, they are going to take them. We gave them too many.

“We did well to get a goal back and then, in the second half, we offered a much more spirited display.

“We started winning the ball in higher areas of the pitch and showing a threat. On another day it could have finished 3-3.”

On Boroughmuir, he added: “Boroughmuir picked up a great result against Hamilton last weekend. They are a good team and know how they want to play.

“So we know it is going to need to be a very good performance from ourselves to get anything from the game.

“We can’t give up chances like we did last weekend, or we will be punished. We will tidy up on certain aspects and look to be ruthless at the top end of the pitch.”
