Northern Ireland U21s call-up for Makenzie

We are delighted to confirm that striker Makenzie Kirk has been called-up to the Northern Ireland under-21 squad for upcoming qualifiers against England and Ukraine.

The frontman, who has impressed since joining the club in the summer from Hearts, will link up with former McDiarmid Park manager Tommy Wright over the international break.

Speaking after being named in the squad, Makenzie said: "I’m delighted to get called up for the 21s at international level. It’s always an honour to get recognised and to get the opportunity to go away on these trips.

"As a footballer, it’s always about testing yourself and trying to take yourself to the highest possible level you can."

On linking up with Tommy Wright, Makenzie continued: "Tommy has had great success at St Johnstone in the past and has had a successful managerial career.

"I am looking forward to working under him again with the 21s and I look forward to working with the group."

On his form at McDiarmid, Makenzie added: "The international trips always help to add confidence. It’s down to me to keep impressing the gaffer and improving my game every day in training to give myself the best opportunity possible."
