Mitov targets team performance to be proud of
10th February 2024
Goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov is looking forward to Sunday’s fixture – and says the players are determined to produce a performance to be proud of.
Saints make the short trip through to Dundee for a 2pm Scottish Premiership kick-off.
Mitov said: “It’s another big game. It is going to be a special game for the fans – a local derby – and that is another reason to put in a performance people can be proud of.
“Ultimately, we need to win the game. The most important thing is the three points.
“Sunday is an opportunity for us to climb the table.
“It’s a crazy league. If you can put two wins together back-to-back, it puts you in a strong position.
“We need to maintain high standards and demand a lot from each other.”
Mitov continued: “Since the new management team has come in, the first thing they have done is make sure we are really hard to beat. Teams haven’t created a lot of chances against us.
“That is the foundation we wanted to build. The next challenge is to start scoring more goals. It is no secret that we need to score more goals. With time, we’re only going to get better.”
Another bumper crowd is set to travel to back the Saints.
“Every single player is going to give absolutely everything on that pitch on Sunday,” Mitov said.
“Hopefully we can give them [the fans] a little present and return with three points.”
