First Team
Welcome, Zach Mitchell!
3rd February 2025
We are delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Zach Mitchell from Charlton Athletic.
The 20-year-old makes the switch to McDiarmid Park until the end of the season.
Zach joined the Addicks' academy as an under seven and signed his first professional contract with the club in July 2022.
He made his first team debut in a Papa John's Trophy tie against Brighton and Hove Albion U21s and was named the Sky Bet League One Apprentice of the Season at the 2023 EFL Awards ceremony following a ‘remarkable’ breakthrough campaign.
Zach has experience on loan already and picked up plenty of minutes with League Two side Colchester United.
He signed a new long-term contract with Charlton in October 2024.
On making the move to Perth, Zach said: “I’m extremely pleased and I’m hoping to aid the team as much as possible.
“I know how competitive the league is and I know it will be tough. It might be a different challenge to what I’m used to but I’m ready to embrace that.
“I like to think I’m confident on the ball and like to step in from the back. But it is also about being sound defensively first. Hopefully I can marry the two of those together nicely.”
Zach added: “The team has picked up positive results recently and we’ll be looking to continue that. The first aim for me is to help build on that and get out of the position we’re in.”
