Sven: We're determined to bounce back
31st October 2024
Sven Sprangler shared his disappointment after our defeat against St Mirren on Wednesday – but is focused on bouncing back against Hearts on Saturday.
The Austrian midfielder saw plenty of the ball and, despite the 3-1 loss, he believes there were a number of positives to take into our next fixture.
We had taken the lead early on through Benji Kimpioka and also had two first half goals disallowed.
“It was tough to take, to be honest, because I think we played well,” Sven said. “We managed to score three goals in the first half, albeit two of them were ruled out.
“In the second half they put on some more pressure with high balls and set-pieces. We defended well but they kept the pressure going.
“In the first half we were more on the front foot and more aggressive against the ball. We had a lot of possession but did not create too many chances in the second half. So it was very disappointing to go back home with no points.”
Sven knows the team has quickly turned their focus to our home game against Hearts (3pm kick-off) this Saturday.
“It was a bitter pill to swallow on Wednesday but the good thing is we have another game at the weekend,” he said. “We can show what we can do and go for the three points.
“We now have a home game, which is good for us. Hearts are behind us in the table but we know they have quality. We will be doing our best and of course our target is to win the game.”
