St Johnstone WFC head coach Josh Henderson was delighted as his side secured a comfortable 4-1 victory over Ayr United in SWPL 2 yesterday.

Saints secured a first home victory of the season in style with goals coming from Jodie Malcolm (2), Steffi Simson, and Olivia Hurrell.

On the victory, Josh said: "I thought first half we were terrific. We got on the front foot and really got at them.

"We scored the goals that we deserved and it could have been a few more as well. I thought the first 45 minutes was the best of our season so far.

"We have been trying to work on moving the ball a bit quicker. We want the players to take a few less touches to get up the pitch faster.

"Second half we dropped a little bit, but that was understandable given what the players put into the opening 45 minutes."

On the goals, Josh added: "All the players have been desperate to score goals, so have three different scorers was great.

"Defensively we were much better as a unit. We are starting to see things come together so hopefully we kick on now."

Next up for Saints is two away trips to Hamilton and Kilmarnock, the top two in the division.

On the tough tests, Josh added: "They are going to be hard games. We need to make sure our intensity is up there again and show what we can do.

"We need to compete with everyone in the league. On your day you never know what can happen."
