Simo Valakari: Key points from the presser

Manager Simo Valakari spoke to the broadcast media today to preview tomorrow's trip to St Mirren in the William Hill Premiership.

Reflecting on last weekend's win over Dundee...

"We did not start the game very well, we were giving the ball away a lot. We conceded a very poor goal.

"But how we reacted after that was what pleased me the most. We didn't dwell on the mistake and in the end we deserved to win with our performance.

"It is early steps, we are starting to learn when we are winning.

"It doesn't matter that we have won our last two matches, we need to do it again tomorrow night against St Mirren."

On the test of St Mirren

"I have watched St Mirren twice live in the stadium. One at home and on Sunday at Ibrox.

"They are a strong team. They are a very hard working team and they are very well coached.

"They have power and pace and they can play nice football. They are effective from set-pieces."

Injury news

"Unfortunately Andre Raymond had to come off against Dundee and he will not make tomorrow against St Mirren.

"He will be close to a return against Hearts at the weekend.

"All other players who were involved against Dundee came through okay.

"Maybe we will see Barry Douglas make the squad."

Captain update

"We had a meeting today. I have been talking privately with Kyle Cameron and Nicky Clark.

"Nicky will continue as captain going forward. There is no drama.

"I have been so happy with what I have seen so far from Nicky in this role."
