LAST TIME OUT: MOTHERWELL

Motherwell suffered defeat in the semi-finals of the Premier Sports Cup last weekend when they lost to Rangers at Hampden Park.

Stuart Kettlewell's side went ahead in the match through Andy Halliday, but they then conceded twice in the second period.

Goals from Cyriel Dessers and Nedim Bajrami cemented Rangers' spot in the Premier Sports Cup final.

LAST TIME OUT: SAINTS

Simo Valakari’s first home match in the dugout ended in defeat last weekend as Hearts defeated Saints 2-1 at McDiarmid Park.

Hearts took the lead on 23 minutes when Blair Spittal’s corner deflected off Nicky Clark to take it past Ross Sinclair and into the far corner of the net.

Clark rectified in the second half as he slotted home from the spot to level the match after Saints had been awarded a penalty courtesy of a VAR review for a foul on Kyle Cameron by Cammy Devlin.

However, Hearts sealed the points with 14 minutes remaining as substitute Kenneth Vargas rolled a low strike past substitute keeper Josh Rae after Beni Baningime had weaved his way through the Saints midfield and backline.

PREVIOUS MEETING

Saints and Motherwell last met back in August and we were on the end of a 2-1 defeat at McDiarmid Park that day.

Motherwell went ahead in the fixture through Dan Casey before Benji Kimpioka leveled just after the hour mark.

The visitors would end up running out winners when substitute Moses Ebiye netted in the 94th minute.
