LAST TIME OUT: ABERDEEN

Aberdeen added a point to their William Hill Premiership total on Sunday with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Hearts.

The Dons were ahead at Tynecastle in the 37th minute when impressive work from Shayden Morris teed-up Leighton Clarkson to send the ball low into the bottom corner.

Goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov was forced off at the break injured and was replaced by Ross Doohan.

Hearts would get themselves back into the game not long after the hour mark when Musa Drammeh's header found the back of the net via a deflection off of Nicky Devlin.

Aberdeen remain in second position in the William Hill Premiership, tucked in behind leaders Celtic.

LAST TIME OUT: ST JOHNSTONE

We return to William Hill Premiership action off the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat against Rangers at McDiarmid Park.

Simo Valakari had named the same team that had defeated Kilmarnock the week prior – and again there was a strong start on show.

A couple of half-chances and dangerous deliveries into the box applied early pressure on the visitors but the score remained level at the break.

The only goal of the game arrived in the 63rd minute when Ianis Hagi’s cross was turned into his own net by Jason Holt under pressure from James Tavernier.

We had defended well throughout the fixture and goalkeeper Josh Rae had made a few very smart stops.

Still in the game heading into the latter stages, we were unable to carve out the right kind of opportunity to draw level.

PREVIOUS MEETING

We last faced off against Aberdeen on the opening day of the William Hill Premiership season in August.

It was a special night at McDiarmid Park as the club thanked previous owner Geoff Brown – and the Main Stand was named after him. New owner Adam Webb was also in attendance and was warmly welcomed by those in attendance.

On the pitch, Aberdeen had taken the lead in the 22nd minute when Nicky Devlin glanced home a header from a corner.

The Dons doubled their lead with 62 minutes on the clock. Jamie McGrath was able to break into the box and finish low beyond goalkeeper Josh Rae.

There was a lifeline for Saints when Makenzie Kirk’s cross was turned into his own net by Gavin Molly. While we pushed for a late leveller, Aberdeen held out for a 2-1 win.
