Perth Academy visit and Odd Socks Day

Ross Sinclair and Scott Bright paid a visit to their former school yesterday to help launch Perth Academy’s anti-bullying week.

The pair both spoke passionately at house assemblies about the importance of respect before reflecting on their experiences at school.

Ross and Scott also discussed the importance of respect in football and the impact of negativity on social media.

Organisers of anti-bullying week say: “From playgrounds to parliament, our homes to our phones, this Anti-Bullying Week let's 'Choose Respect' and bring an end to bullying which negatively impacts millions of young lives.

“This year, we’ll empower children and young people to not resort to bullying, even when we disagree and remind adults to lead by example, online and offline.”

We were also invited to take part in Odd Socks Day as part of anti-bullying week and our players were delighted to get involved.

Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun. It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique.

As part of their visit to Perth Academy, Ross and Scott also took part in lunchtime football where they refereed a number of high-quality games.

Goalkeeper Ross said: “It was great to be back at the Academy and I really enjoyed seeing all the pupils and some of my former teachers.

“It was great to be part of the launch of anti-bullying week and share some of my experiences from when I was at school.

“As a club we also thought it was important to get involved in Odd Socks Day and we hope as many of the Academy pupils get involved as possible for a great cause.”
