LUKE ROBINSON RETURNS TO SAINTS ON LOAN
19th January 2024
DEFENDER RETURNS FROM WIGAN ATHLETIC
Saints are pleased to announce that Luke Robinson has re-joined the club on loan from Wigan Athletic for the remainder of the season.
A regular in the side before the turn of the year, he was recalled to The Latics earlier this month with Shaun Maloney’s side needing player resource. However, the Lancashire club are happy for Luke to return to Scotland to continue his development and we’re delighted to have him!
The 22-year-old defender’s paperwork – including international clearance – is complete and so he’s available to manager Craig Levein.
After rejoining his Saints colleagues for training in Dundee this morning Luke told the Saints Official Website: “I always thought there was a chance I could return to Saints and that’s how it’s turned out.
“I’m really pleased because I wanted to finish what I feel I started. I feel that I built a foundation and I’m someone who likes to finish things – it feels like I have unfinished business here.”
Players don’t willingly rush back to clubs if they’ve not enjoyed it and Luke’s views on that are clear.
“The people here have treated me well and I’ve felt respected. I want to pick up where I left off both for myself as an individual and for the team as a whole.”
Luke has signed a contract extension with Wigan Athletic ahead of his return to McDiarmid Park.
On Luke’s return Manager Craig Levein says: “It’s good to have Luke back and I’d like to thank Wigan Athletic. I know Luke enjoys it here – that’s borne out by his keenness to come back – and he gives me options at both left back and left centre back.”
