23-year-old midfielder Sean Goss made his Saints debut at the weekend after joining on-loan from Queen's Park Rangers until the end of the season.

A familiar face in Scottish football - Sean had a loan spell last season with Rangers - he started and played 80 minutes of the 2-0 defeat to Celtic at McDiarmid Park on Sunday.

The former Manchester United man has struggled for first-team game time since his move to London in 2017 and said he was just delighted to get back out there playing competitive football.

"I really enjoyed it," Sean said, "although obviously I was disappointed with the result.

"That was my first competitive game for quite a while so it just felt great to be back out there again.

"It's been a frustrating time for me this season and I haven't really played so it was nice to get some minutes under my belt. I probably wasn't expecting to play 80 minutes but I was more than happy to!

"I thought we created chances and on another day we could have been in front. The boys all dug in deep and kept our shape well for the majority of the game but a couple of sloppy mistakes cost us."

Sean didn't have too much time to prepare following confirmation of his loan move from QPR on Thursday afternoon. He arrived for his first training session with his new teammates the day before the game and slotted straight into manager Tommy Wright's starting XI.

"I was in for training on Saturday and that's when I first met the boys," said Sean.

"Then the manager put me straight in which was great because I've come here on-loan to play football and was delighted to get in the side so quickly.

"I'll try and build on that and hopefully I'll be able to get some full games under my belt in the coming weeks."

Sean added: "Hopefully I showed the supporters some glimpses of what I am about and how I play.

"I like to get on the ball as much as I possibly can. I'm looking to really push on now and show everyone what I can do in the next few months."
