Dundee United Match Preview

Saints return to action as we welcome Dundee United for the final Tayside derby of the season

LAST TIME OUT

SAINTS

Saints battled out a 1-1 draw with Hibs at McDiarmid Park in our most recent outing.

The Perth side took the lead on 25 minutes courtesy of an overhead from Stevie May which squirmed under Hibs keeper David Marshall at his near post.

The Easter Road side levelled the match on 32 minutes as Lewis Stevenson swept home a Élie Youan cross into the far bottom corner of the net.

3 minutes into the second half Hibs were reduced to ten men as James Jeggo was sent off for a challenge on Connor McLennan.

Saints used their extra man to put the visitors under pressure in the second half however, the Hibs defence stood strong along with keeper David Marshall who made some important saves to ensure that the spoils were shared.

Dundee United continued their upturn in form as they beat Livingston 2-0 at Tannadice.

Jim Goodwin’s side sealed the 3 points with goals in each half through Jamie McGrath and Steven Fletcher. It was the third win on the bounce for the Dundee side as they extended their lead over bottom of the table Ross County to 4 points.

Liam Gordon’s Preview

“We have five massive games and we know what is it stake. We know what we are capable of and will take it one match at a time.

“We had poor weeks that should have been better, but they were not. We are in this position now and we are all prepared to get ourselves out of it.

“You just have to take it a game at a time and apply yourself as best as you can. The first few weeks under the new manager have been good. We have had some great training weeks and we will be looking to build on the Hibs performance.

“It does make it extra special that the first match is a Tayside derby.

“We are ready for this fight.”

Steven MacLean’s Preview

“We had a good weeks training followed by a good performance against Hearts in a friendly. Some boys got minutes that needed it, alongside a few young players, that’s why we took the game.

“I am in charge until I am told otherwise. I am enjoying It right now and I am fully focussed on the Dundee United game.

“We know the position we are in and what we have to do, we are in the driving seat. We are going out against Dundee United and we will give it a right good go.

“We have prepared well and the players have done everything we wanted, we are looking forward to the game.”

ROAD WORKS

Home Supporters

There are currently major ongoing roadworks on the A85 Crieff Road (West Bound) which may impact on your journey to and from McDiarmid Park on Saturday and the remaining home fixtures of the season.

The main impact will be at the end of the match when, specifically, there is no access from McDiarmid Park Westbound along the A85 Crieff Road anywhere beyond the Newhouse Road roundabout.  Any vehicle turning right out of the car park can only access Newhouse Road.  Anyone wishing to travel west beyond Newhouse Road must turn left out of the car park and follow the signed diversion.

Due to this disruption, delays are likely and supporters are asked to show patience when within the car park and build additional time into their journey plans.

Away Supporters

Due to the ongoing roadworks outside Tesco on the A85 Crieff Road, all Hibernian supporters are encouraged to take the following route to McDiarmid Park on Saturday:

Visiting Buses, coaches and cars are to head north from Broxden Roundabout to Inveralmond Roundabout.

Take the 4th exit signposted ‘football traffic”
Take the first slip road signposted “Crieff/Crianlarich (A85) & Perth A85”
At the traffic lights, turn left and take the filter lane turning right through the blue North Gate at
McDiarmid Park where stewards will direct you to the West side of the artificial pitch.
