Dimitar Mitov signs for Saints

We are delighted to announce Dimitar Mitov as our first signing of the transfer window on a 2 year contract.

Having risen through the ranks of his Bulgarian youth club, Chavdar Etropole, the shotstopper soon caught the attention of scouts from across Europe. He subsequently showcased his abilities at both the domestic and youth international levels, earning caps at U16-U19 level with Bulgaria.

The 26-year-old joins us having spent 6 years at Cambridge United. In his final season at the Abbey Stadium he played a huge part in retaining the club's League 1 status after a dramatic surival push.

Speaking to SaintsTV, Dimitar spoke of how happy he was to put pen to paper.

"I'm delighted to get the deal over the line and I can't wait to get started.

"I had a few different opportunities to go to different clubs but the option of coming here for a completely different challenge is one I couldn't turn down.

"Conversations with the manager were brilliant, he explained his vision for what he wants and it made the decision even easier.

"I want to achieve as much as I can here personally but also help the team as much as possible. It's a great club and I can't wait to get going."
