Saints ended a seven match losing streak when they swept aside Motherwell at Fir Park.

Saints took the lead on 5 minutes as Drey Wright drilled a low strike beyond Liam Kelly which went in off the far post to give Callum Davidson’s side an early lead.

Melker Hallberg then wrapped up the points 4 minutes into the second half with a fine low strike.

That win saw Saints move onto 27 points and remain in eighth position in the cinch Premiership.

Celtic

Celtic maintained their nine-point lead in the Scottish Premiership after beating Livingston.

Ange Postecoglou's side cruised past their visitors in the first half, with Greg Taylor netting the first with a sweet strike across the deck and Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi both converting one of many chances.

Callum Davidson's thoughts

"There's been a lot of positives to take from the last 3 games, especially defensively. I thought it was a really good team performance against Motherwell, capped off with a clean sheet. We score 2 very good goals and always looked a threat going forward. It was a good evenings work from us.

"Last time against Celtic I thought we allowed them to play balls over the top too easily which is something we'll need to address. They always play at a high tempo which is something we will need to try and match.

"We don't want to sit in for 90 minutes, they have too much quality to hurt us. We want to go out, have a go and take something positive away from the game.

"I'm very happy with the squad we have. If you look at where we are now compared to last season we're in a much stronger postition. The squad is settled and there is a lot of quality there."
