Callachan signs on two-year-deal
31st August 2018
The club is delighted to announce the signing of 24-year-old midfielder Ross Callachan from Hearts on a two-year-deal.
The former Raith Rovers man was at McDiarmid Park this evening to complete his deadline day move from Tynecastle and has signed until the end of the 2019/20 season.
Speaking about his 6th signing of the summer, the manager is excited about the strength in depth he now has at his disposal.
"I'm delighted to get Ross," Tommy said, "we've been after him for a while so to finally get it over the line is great news for the club.
"He's got good experience and had a good season in the Premiership last campaign. He's got great physical presence and that was something we always wanted to add in the midfield, particularly after the injury to Murray.
"He's a great age and he's a player who is comfortable in a two or a three. He's got an engine, is good on the ball and he's a player who can nick you a goal or two. He's an all-round midfielder.
"The competition in the squad now is fierce and we're looking really strong. I'm really pleased with the business we've managed to do in this window."
Ross finalised his move at McDiarmid Park tonight and spoke to the club's official website shortly after he signed on the dotted line.
"I'm absolutely buzzing," he said, "it's been a difficult few months for me at Hearts and I've not really featured.
"The manager has been interested in me for a while and it's great to finally be here.
"I feel like I had a decent season last year and now I'm ready to kick on and give my all for St. Johnstone.
"It's a really strong squad and I can't wait to meet the boys. I'm really excited about the season ahead and what can be achieved both personally and as a club."
Ross goes straight into the squad for tomorrow's trip to Hamilton in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
