Alloa Match Preview

Saints return to action this weekend to meet Alloa Athletic at the Indodrill Stadium on Saturday 22nd July (kick off 3pm) in a Viaplay Cup Group match.

Last time out

Saints

Saints made a disappointing start to their Viaplay Cup campaign as they were defeated 1-0 by League Two side Stenhousemuir.

The first half was an even affair as both sides created chances to take the lead. Saints best chance of the first half came in the final minute as Stevie May was denied from close range by Stenhousemuir keeper Darren Jamieson.

The only goal of the game came 4 minutes into the second half as Adam Brown capitalised on a poor ball by Liam Gordon and he setup Euan O’Reilly and the former Saints player broke forward before sending a low shot into the far corner of the net.

Alloa

Alloa season got off to a rocky start as Stirling Albion came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at the Recs.

STEVEN MACLEAN PREVIEW

“The Stenhousemuir game was not the result or performance that we wanted.

“We have standards at this Club and they were not met during that match, I let the players know that after the final whistle.

“When we watch the game back we can see we had chances to score, but you have to take them.

“We should be winning these games but we know we have to show respect to the opposition. Brian Rice is a good manager and he will have his team very well organised.

“Dan Phillips and Callum Booth should booth be back for this match.”

Tony Gallacher PREVIEW

"We know the last game was not good enough, the manager made that clear. We have games coming up thick and fast and we are looking forward to getting back out there to put it right.

"I didn't play as much as i wanted to last season, my injury didn't help with that. However, this is football and i now have a good chance to go and show what i can do. I have worked hard over the summer to make sure i came back in good shape so the gaffer had no doubts i was ready.

"We have to go and take the game to Alloa, we want to come away with 3 points.
