YOUTH PLAYERS GEARING UP FOR NEW CAMPAIGN

26th July 2016

It's not just the first team who are preparing for the 08/09 campaign

The first team squad returned from their Wolverhampton training base last night and have today off ahead of a return to training at the stadium tomorrow.

But of course it’s not just the first team squad who are gearing up for the new campaign – Saints younger players are also back training.

Five full-time apprentices are going through the pre-season routine at the moment under the watchful eye of Youth Development Manager Tommy Campbell (pictured) and these five - Shaun McAllion, Chris Dodds, Martin Shields, Stephen Reynolds and Jordan Quinn – are currently joined by a selection of other lads some of whom are taking advantage of the holidays prior to returning to school after the summer and one or two who may be taken on full-time for the 08/09 campaign.

This season, the oldest youth team Saints will be operating will be Under 17 (a drop in age of two years compared to recent seasons) and they will be joined by Under 16s and Under 14s.

The Under 17s have once again been invited to take part in the Oban Saints’ annual Keyline Challenge Cup Tournament which takes place at Mossfield Stadium and Glencruitten Park, Oban, on Saturday 12th July. Teams taking part are Hearts, Dundee United, St Johnstone, Hamilton Accies, Alloa Athletic (holders) and Oban Saints.
