MANAGER PLEASED WITH TRAINING CAMP PROGRESS

26th July 2016

Derek McInnes is pleased with Saints trip south of the border

The Saints players are continuing their pre-season training camp at Wolverhampton University and Manager Derek McInnes has expressed his delight at the way things are going during the short break.

“Everyone down here has been extremely helpful to us – West Bromwich Albion, the university staff and the hotel staff. The players are working hard and it is good that players who had last season interrupted for various reasons are getting a good pre-season shift in – I’m talking about players such as Kevin James, Martin Hardie, Jody Morris and Stuart McCaffrey”

The Manager is delighted at the quality of the facilities available to his squad and staff and feels the time away is proving very valuable at this crucial stage of the year.

The players return to Scotland tomorrow night and will have their first run out in a closed door game against Ayr United at the weekend. Derek is closely monitoring striker Derek Holmes and a Spanish left back during the training camp and will soon make a decision on whether they have worked their way into a contract for the 2008/09 season.

Before heading down south at the end of last week, Derek McInnes told the Saints Official Website the thinking behind taking the players away for a few days. Click the audio link above to listen to his thoughts
