PLAYERS RETURN TODAY

PLAYERS RETURN TODAY

26th July 2016

It may only be June but the players are back to work today.

The countdown to the new football season begins in earnest today with the players reporting for pre-season training.

Manager Derek McInnes will welcome back the retained players from last season plus new signings Collin Samuel, Euan McLean, Gavin Swankie and Chris Millar and the squad will have a training session in Perth prior to tomorrow’s departure for their Wolverhampton University training base where they will spend a week.

Joining the squad today are three faces that may have a part to play this season. Striker Derek Holmes, goalkeeper Greg Kelly and a Spanish left back will all take part in today’s double session and may travel with the squad tomorrow.

29 year old Holmes played with Hearts, Ross County, Raith Rovers and Cowdenbeath before heading to England and he spent last season with Rotherham United.

Goalkeeper Kelly is a free agent after being released by Aberdeen and is seen as temporary cover while Alan Main recovers from his shoulder injury and the Spanish trialist has come recommended by Goran Stanic who left Saints for East Fife in the summer.

More on the return to training later today……….
