STEVEN ANDERSON SET TO EQUAL ALAN MAIN'S APPEARANCE RECORD

PHOTO: History beckons for Steven Anderson if selected this evening. As the whistle blows for kick off tonight against Ross County, history will be in the making for one Saints player on the park. Steven Anderson, if selected to play, will equal Alan Main's record as the all-time record appearance holder for St. Johnstone FC. Main's appearance total of 361 has stood since his last competitive match for Saints on 24th October 2009 against Kilmarnock in the Premier League, a match in which Steven Anderson also played. Twelve years on from that appearance at Love Street, the 30-year-old is now playing for Saints during the undoubted 'Golden Age' in the club's history. Indeed, Anderson has been central to helping the club achieve four successive top 6 finishes (including a 3rd place finish in 2013), four successive European campaigns (featuring that unforgettable two-legged victory over Norwegian giants Rosenborg) and the winning of the Scottish Cup in 2014, the club's first-ever major trophy. Earlier in his Saints career, he also lifted the Challenge Cup in 2008, which was followed by the Division One title a year later. It was fitting for 'Ando' to score the opening goal in that Scottish Cup final win over Dundee United, as it marked his testimonial year at McDiarmid Park. Ten years at Saints was celebrated with a testimonial match against Hearts in front of over 2,000 fans, followed by a supporter-organised dinner later that season. Brian Doyle, Club Historian, said, \"I think that Ando has been a marvellous player for Saints
