SAINTS SECURE LIVVY PAIR
26th July 2016
Saints are pleased to announce that deals have been finalised to bring Livingston players Dave MacKay and Murray Davidson to the club.
28 year old defender MacKay has signed a two-year deal with midfielder Davidson signing for three years.
Negotiations for the deal began on Wednesday and whilst these have proved protracted, all parties were confident that they would ultimately reach agreement and this has now been done for an undisclosed fee.
Saints Assistant Manager Tony Docherty says of the double signing “Derek and I have always been admirers of these two players and when they became available they were obvious targets. If we had been asked to pick a First Division select team from players other than our own then they would both have been in it.
“Dave has SPL experience with Dundee and Livingston and in Murray we are getting a young player who is hungry to do well. He has all the attributes of a modern day footballer and we can make him better.â€
Meanwhile, Saints have been further boosted with the news that Graham Gartland has signed for next season.
The Irish defender joined the Club from Drogheda United on 1st January this year and has been persuaded to stay for the SPL campaign.
Graham told the Saints Official Website “I wanted to see if I settled in Scotland okay as I didn’t enjoy my previous spell but I have really enjoyed my time with Saints and am delighted to be staying.â€
Graham admits that he is happier than most to see the close season.
“With the Irish season running from March through summer, I have been training and playing continuously since February 2008 and to be honest my body is screaming at me to take a break! I’m going to have three weeks of complete rest now and then build up to pre-season training again.â€
