New signing Gavin Swankie gives his thoughts on his move from Dundee to Saints...

“Excited to be here” is Gavin Swankie’s reaction to joining Saints and being part of the plans of Derek McInnes for next season.

The former Arbroath winger signed on at McDiarmid Park yesterday bringing to an end a three year association with Dundee and he told the media, “I have been aware of possible interest for a month or so but it is just in the last week that things have moved forward.

“Dundee made me an offer to stay at Dens but I feel I need a wee change of scene and I have been told on the grapevine that Morton were interested but I after I spoke to Derek McInnes my mind was set on joining Saints. Everything he says about the club is positive and I am looking forward to being a part of it. I’m aware that a bad start cost Saints last season so we will be looking to start the season well.”

Admitting that he had enjoyed his fair share of success when it came to scoring against Saints, Gavin confirmed that he could have been a Perth player long before now.

“Owen Coyle spoke to me a few years ago but nothing came of it but I am delighted to be here now and looking forward to the fresh start.”
