TAYSIDE DERBY CRACKER IN PROSPECT TODAY
26th July 2016
Today marks the final match of 2013 for Saints. After Boxing Day’s defeat to Celtic, Tommy Wright and the players will look to bounce back quickly as we welcome Dundee United to McDiarmid Park in the Tayside Derby, writes Aidan Smith.
The terrors are currently sitting in fourth place in the Scottish Premiership - they are equal on points with fifth placed Aberdeen – ten points ahead of Saints, although we have a game in hand. United were on a seven game unbeaten run until Boxing Day when St Mirren beat them 4-1. They scored an impressive twenty-two goals in their unbeaten run.
Team wise for Jackie McNamara’s side, Keith Watson will miss out due to a suspension, as he picked up a red card on Boxing Day. Gary Mackay-Steven is a doubt as he has a shin injury.
Saints could be without Dave Mackay as he picked up a calf knock against Celtic – he will be assessed on match day morning. Rory Fallon will return to the squad as he has served his two-match ban.
In the last five games between the two sides, there have been three draws and a win for each team. Who will come out on top today?
The referee for the game is Stephen Finnie and all fans are reminded it’s a 2pm kick off at McDiarmid Park. Kids aged 12 and under go free to the match.
The Saints Youth Academy will be having another bucket collection today, so any loose change would be greatly appreciated.
