21/22 Away Kit
27th July 2021
The new away kit takes inspiration from one of the brightest periods in the Saints history while also complementing our recent and historic success.
Older saints’ fans will be no stranger to the feel-good factor surrounding the club in the late 80s and early 90s. Large crowds, exciting football, a new stadium and championship-winning promotion all characterised a golden period for the club. Undoubtedly, that atmosphere is paralleled at present, off the back of our most successful season.
Our new away kit is inspired by that worn during the 1989-91 campaigns, with eye-catching red and white stripes forming a base elevated by tonal pinstripes. Red Shorts and Socks add a punchiness that draws attention to the jersey.
A subtle nod to our cup double, a gold trim also adorns the jersey in the shape of the gold Macron Hero, a celebration of the past and the present.
However, the focus is ultimately on the parallels between 1989-91, the city and club bound together by a wave of optimism. It’s a chance to celebrate being part of a real community, one which you are all part of, whether you’re new or a lifelong fan.
Roddy Grant - club legend and top goal scorer during the ’89 promotion campaign - had his say on the new shirt, "The new away kit takes me back to those golden days surrounding the club. It’s a great remake of our kit, and it has a modern flair that makes it fit for purpose in today's game. The gold trims are a great touch to last year’s success.
I look back fondly on the feel-good-factor around the club when I wore the 1989-91 kits, and I can see it again. The whole city is just on a real high, and it’s great to see so many engaged with everything the club is doing."
The new kit is available to pre-order now with orders dispatched from Tuesday 10th August. Click here to Pre-order.
