Manager confirms his backroom team as Macca returns
23rd June 2020
Manager Callum Davidson has today confirmed his backroom team which sees Scottish Cup Final goal-hero Steven MacLean return to the Club as first-team-coach.
It's part of a shake up of the Manager's backroom set-up in which Callum will work with two first-team-coaches rather than with an assistant manager.
Alec Cleland will be working alongside MacLean and both will also oversee the U18s, while Goalkeeping Coach Paul Mathers and Sport Scientist Alex Headrick continue in their respective roles.
Leaving the Club is Alan Maybury, who departs after two years as coach at McDiarmid Park with the best wishes of everybody at St. Johnstone.
Speaking shortly after confirming his backroom set-up, the Manager said: "I'm delighted to welcome Steven back to the Club as part of my staff and I'm really looking forward to working with him and Alec.
"I obviously know Macca really well and I think we've got a nice balance now with Alec's experience and Steven's youthful energy.
"We have good strikers at the Club both in the first-team-squad and coming through the ranks, and I think that working with Macca will help to bring out the best in them."
You can hear from Macca about his return to McDiarmid Park on Saints TV this Thursday.
