Welcome, Elliot Watt!

30th January 2025

Welcome, Elliot Watt!

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of midfielder Elliot Watt from Burton Albion.

The former Scotland youth international moves to McDiarmid Park until the end of the season.

Born in Preston, Elliot featured at the youth academies of Blackburn, Liverpool, Preston North End and Wolves, before signing his first professional contract at Molineux in 2017.

The 24-year-old moved to Carlisle United on loan in the second half of the 2019/20 season and then made a permanent switch to Bradford City in 2020.

Elliot would go on to play for Salford City before signing for Burton and he also has international recognition, representing Scotland's under-21's on three occasions.

After arriving in Perth today, Elliot said: “I’m delighted to get it done. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind 24 hours. I’m now just looking forward to getting into training with the boys and cracking on.

“The head coach explained where he saw me in the system and what I could bring to the club. It was a really positive conversation and, from that point, I wanted to get up here.

“The last couple of results have been very positive and hopefully I can now bring my qualities to the team - get on the ball, make things happen and help to pick up points.”

Elliot will have a familiar face in the dressing room in Barry Douglas, who he knows from his days at Wolves. He also is close friends with former striker Callum Hendry.

“Barry was at Wolves when I first came through there and made my debut,” Elliot said. “It is nice to have a familiar face and he has had a great career.

“Cal is one of my best friends and I had a conversation with him when I knew it might be a go-er. He sung the praises of the club and said it would be good for me. I’ve only heard positive things about the club.”

Elliot added: “Hopefully the fans can travel in their numbers this Saturday and can get right behind us. I’m looking forward to showing what I can do and putting a smile on their faces.”

Elliot will wear the number 44 jersey during his time at the club.
