U18s: Livingston 1-1 Saints

Our under-18s played out a 1-1 league draw with Livingston in the Club Academy Scotland Performance League on Friday evening.

The young team fell behind at the Home of the Set Fare Arena but James Muir found the back of the net to haul us level before the break.

We defended resolutely in the second half and pushed for the winner, but had to settle for a solitary point.

Defender Callan Hamill reflected: “We started strongly but they managed to find the top corner for the opener, which you can’t do much about.

“But our reaction after their goal was really good and Murray [Binnie] gets a good flick-on for James [Muir] to score.

“We knew we had to stay relaxed and continue to win our duels in the second half. I felt we controlled the game for large spells and it was there for the taking. Overall, we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

“It was important to take something from the game and get a point on the board, even though we wanted all three.”

Callan added: “I’ve really enjoyed the season so far. There have been ups and down but it’s important that we finish strong.”
