First Team
St Mirren (A) preview
19th February 2024
Saints return to Scottish Premiership action this Saturday with a trip through to Paisley to face St Mirren. Kick-off at the SMiSA Stadium will be 3pm.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Chris Kane found the back of the net in stoppage time to clinch the Perth Saints three points when the teams met back in December at McDiarmid Park.
The Buddies had carved out chances to win the game with Charles Dunne’s 25-yard effort tipped behind for a corner while substitute Mikael Mandron hit the post after getting on the end of a Toyosi Olusanya delivery.
But the only goal of the contest arrived four minutes into added on time when Saints were awarded a penalty following a foul on skipper Liam Gordon.
Kane stepped up from 12 yards and, while his penalty was saved by Zach Hemming, he reacted quickest to bundle in the rebound.
LAST TIME OUT: Saints
Saints head for Paisley off the back of a 3-0 home defeat against league leaders Rangers.
It was a game of few clear-cut chances but Mohamed Diomande’s long-range effort had the visitors ahead at the interval.
Craig Levein’s side remained in touch as the game reached its latter stages but two James Tavernier penalties put the result beyond doubt.

LAST TIME OUT: St Mirren
St Mirren, who sit fifth in the Scottish Premiership, were defeated 1-0 by bottom side Livingston in West Lothian in their latest fixture.
Tete Yengi netted the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time when he guided high into the net from close range.
St Mirren had the opportunity to level from the penalty spot after the break but Shamal George was the hero by saving Mandron’s effort.
