More international recognition for Callan Hamill

Everyone at the club would like to congratulate youth academy player Callan Hamill after he again represented Scotland.

Callan was selected for recent Under-15 matches against Spain and Hong Kong, both of which were played at the Pinatar Arena in the Murcia region of Spain.

Our young defender, who is familiar with playing at centre-half or full-back, is no stranger to being involved with the national set-up.

Head of the youth academy, Alistair Stevenson, believes this latest experience will again have served Callan well.

“It was great for Callan and a brilliant experience for him playing against a very strong Spanish team,” Stevenson said. “He played the whole game in that one and again acquitted himself well.

“He was up against top players who will all be playing with big clubs in the Spanish youth leagues. To know that he can compete at that level – and be a leader at that level – will be great for his confidence.

“Callan has previously captained the team and he very much is a leader. He is in good company with who he is rubbing shoulders with.”

Callan previously represented Scotland’s Under-15s in a Development Tournament in Portugal at the tail end of last year. On that occasion, the young Scots faced Italy, Portugal and the USA.

He then earned further recognition in February by playing for the young Scots in an international friendly match against England.
