Kennedy confident run can go on

Matty Kennedy scored a second half penalty to ensure Saints' unbeaten run stretched to seven matches and the in-form man is confident that the club can keep it going this weekend.

Saints showed great character to twice come from behind last night against Hearts at McDiarmid Park with Blair Alston also on the scoresheet in the 2-2 draw.

And Matty believes that the club deserved more than just point from the match.

"We were determined to do right and be better against Hearts this time," he said, "as we didn't put in the performance we know we are capable of when we met at Tynecastle earlier in the season.

"We responded really well when we went behind early on and that's because we are a good team. We don't have any boys in the squad who would strut around or go missing when we go a goal down.

"Everybody chips in and works hard for each other and I think that showed. I thought that if anyone was going to nick it then it was going to be us and we probably deserved to get more from the game but it just wasn't to be."

There would have been a few nerves around McDiarmid Park when Matty stepped up to take a second half penalty after Liam Gordon was fouled by Peter Haring in the box.

However the man tasked with scoring from the spot had no worries whatsoever as he slotted the ball past Zlamal.

"I knew I was going to score it," Matty said, "I wasn't nervous at all.

"I don't know how the rest of the boys or the fans were feeling but I was very confident that I was going to score and get us back level."

With Aberdeen next up on Saturday at Pittodrie, the 24-year-old is confident that the unbeaten run can go on.

"The way we're playing just now I think we can beat anybody," he said.

"So I think we can definitely keep the run going on Saturday against Aberdeen but it will be a difficult match.

"The boys are full of confidence and I'm relishing coming up against the likes of Rangers and Celtic again because we are a different side now to when we went on that bad spell a few months ago.

"We have to focus on Aberdeen first though and I believe we can go up there on Saturday and come away with a result."
