Jason's At Home Blog: Week Eight

I can't believe I'm on my eighth blog already!

I hope you're all well and have been able to get outside and enjoy the nice weather we've had over the past few days. I've been out as much as possible and cycled down to Gullane yesterday making the most of it.

Today, I cycled back to Penicuik for the funeral of Kane McGinley. Obviously there are restrictions in place for funerals just now so we just lined the streets of the town and watched the hearse go by. It was a nice touch and Kane will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

With regards to football, the league was called earlier this week and it sees the Club climb one place to secure a top six finish.

It's an incredible achievement given where we were at the beginning of the season. The boys have been magnificent in turning our fortunes around and although the campaign has been cut short I think a top six finish is no less than we deserve.

And, as much as the players deserve credit for turning things around, so does Tommy Wright. He kept believing in us and I'm glad we've been able to send him out on a high with another top half finish in the bag.

I've been reflecting on my first season as captain and the ups and downs we've had. If I was to pick a favourite moment, I think it would have to be my last minute equaliser at Easter Road. That was an amazing day and the buzz from scoring so late in the match was great.

With the season now over, we still don't know when we're going to be returning. June has been mentioned and I'm not sure how feasible it is but the boys will be ready whenever called upon, as long as it's safe.

We've all been keeping ourselves ticking over and we're missing football so much. Pre-season is normally something that we players dread but I think everyone is looking forward to this one!

I wanted to round off my blog this week by thanking all of those who got involved with the Virtual Matchday on Sunday.

I really enjoyed watching the game and seeing how much it meant to all the fans. It was great and the sales from the 50/50 draw and the pies were brilliant.

The money raised from Sunday will go towards the Club, to the newly created Youth Development Fund and to our charity partner CHAS. So thank you to all who bought tickets, bid in the auction and bought their pies for the big day!

Hopefully you all enjoyed it and I'm sure we'll have more Virtual Matchdays in the weeks and months to come before we can get back to football properly!
