Injury blow for Murray
28th August 2018
Following a scan on the ankle injury picked up by Murray Davidson during Saturday's victory over Dundee, the club can confirm that the 30-year-old midfielder will have to undergo surgery with an operation scheduled for this Thursday.
The full extent and severity of the injury is still to be determined, therefore no timescale has been confirmed for when Murray can be expected to return to action.
Speaking to the club's official website, the manager is remaining optimistic and is hopeful that the surgeon will have Murray back in the first-team fold as soon as possible.
"Murray had a scan and x-ray on Monday which we were able to organise very quickly," Tommy said, "and the consultant has decided to take him straight in for surgery this Thursday.
"We're hoping that it's just going to be a clean-up operation but you can never be 100% sure until the surgeon goes in and has a look.
"If it's just a clean-up then hopefully we'll be looking at a matter of weeks - perhaps four to six weeks - but if there's anything else that needs to be done then it'll obviously be longer.
"It's disappointing but we have to remain optimistic. Let's hope that the operation is a big success and that the surgeon has to do the bare minimum and we can have Murray back available in the not too distant future."
