Dundee United Match Preview
27th September 2022

cinch Premiership action returns after the international break this Saturday as St Johnstone travel to Tannadice.
In Saints last outing the points were shared in a goalless draw against Ross County. Both sides hit the woodwork within the first 10 minutes. Stevie May’s looping effort cracked off the post. County came close not long after when Kazeem Olaigbe’s effort hit the underside of the bar.
Despite a battling effort from both sides, it would remain goalless as the points were shared.
Dundee United come into the game looking for their first 3 points of the campaign. They travelled to Ibrox last time out where they would narrowly lose 2-1 to the Glasgow side. An Antonio Colak double put Rangers ahead with Liam Smith pulling a goal back for the Tangerines.
Saints will be looking to repeat their last visit to Tannadice where they ran out 1-0 victors in the Tayside Derby.
Manager’s Thoughts:
“The international break was good. We gave the boys a few days off, they got to see their families and we also trained them hard for a few days. We are back now and we are focussed on getting the three points this Saturday.
“I know Liam Fox well and I’m delighted for him, I also know Stevie his assistant. I wish both of them all the best. However, come Saturday all that will go out the window and we will be focussed on the task at hand.
“We always bring a good crowd through to a Tayside Derby so we are looking forward to it. We always have a good support and it is always a good atmosphere at Tannadice. It is really important we go there and put in a performance for our fans to cheer about.”

Jamie Murphy's Thoughts:
“I am sure the new manager will be a boost for them but we just have to focus on ourselves and do what we can to win. The support for us have been great so far, home and away. If there was five fans there or five hundred, I would always want to win for them.
“I am really enjoying my time here, the guys are brilliant to be around and the staff at the club are fantastic. St Johnstone are always a club I have admired from afar, It is going well so far but we are always looking to improve.
“We are looking forward to Saturday. The last game we played at home we felt we had a chance to win and didn’t quite get there. Its all about getting that next win and we are looking to get that this weekend."
