Dundee Match Preview

Saints welcome Dundee this Saturday for a Tayside derby clash.

RETRO JERSEY DAY

This Saturday sees the return of local rivals Dundee to McDiarmid Park as our cinch Premiership opposition, and we would like to invite supporters to turn up wearing their favourite Saints jerseys from years gone by for our Retro Jersey Day!

From the pin-stripe version of the ‘80s to the teal and magenta efforts from both the mid ‘90s and of course, from just last season – we would like to see McDiarmid Park filled with the various jerseys of years gone by.

PRIZES UP FOR GRABS!

We have managed to get our hands on some of the new Matchwinner retro jerseys from seasons '86-'89 to give away as prizes courtesy of our retail partners St Johnstone Direct.

To enter, all you have to do is take a picture of yourself wearing your retro jersey on matchday and tag us on Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #RetroSJFC.

We look forward to seeing you all in your Retro Jerseys!

RETRO PLAYLIST REQUESTS

To tie in with our Retro Jersey day we are inviting Saints fans to submit a photo of themselves wearing their retro jersey of choice together with a chosen song from that same era, to be played at McDiarmid Park during the build up to the match and at half time.

We will post a collection of your photo and song choice submissions on our social media channels on the day.

Submissions should be emailed to beverley@perthsaints.co.uk by 5pm on Thursday, 31st August.  Please include your full name, and your song choice in the email, together with your photo.

LAST TIME OUT

SAINTS

Saints put in a brilliant defensive performance at Celtic as they earned a deserved point against Celtic last Saturday.

The Bhoys dominated possession but they found Dimitar Mitov in top form as the Bulgarian produced several excellent saves to deny the Champions.

Despite being under the chose for large spells Saints created a couple of chances to win it. James Brown played in Dara Costelloe mid-way through the second half but Joe Hart produced a strong one-handed save to deny the on-loan Burnley forward a goal on his debut.

Then with 7 minutes remaining Graham Carey’s through ball set Stevie May free on the counter however, Hart made a another important block as both sides settled for a share of the spoils.

DUNDEE

Tony Docherty earned his first Premiership win as manager as Dundee narrowly beat Hearts last Sunday.

Luke McCowan's strike a wonderful 30-yard chip to put the Den’s side a goal ahead just after the hour mark.

Hearts would press late into the game but would fail to find an equaliser. The victory leaves Dundee sat in 6th place, level on points with Hearts, Kilmarnock and Livingston.

LUKE ROBINSON PRESS CONFERENCE

“I am enjoying my time here so far at St Johnstone.

“It has been very easy to settle in at the club, everyone has made it very welcoming. This has made it a lot easier to focus on the pitch.

“There was obviously going to be nerves with my first game coming against Celtic, but the gaffer was brilliant. He spoke to me early in the week and let me know I would be playing, that helped me get prepared for the match.
