Celtic Match Preview
22nd December 2022

Saints travel to face Celtic on Christmas Eve.
Saints will be hoping to extend their six-game unbeaten run this weekend as they travel to face Celtic in Glasgow.
Last time out Saints came from a goal down to beat Ross County 2-1 in Dingwall for the first time since 2017. Ali Crawford came off the bench to score two goals and secure all three points.
Celtic ran out 1-0 winners against Aberdeen at Pitodrie after a late Callum McGregor winner.
Saints will be hoping to perform better than the last visit to Parkhead where they got beat 7-0.
Manager's thoughts
"I thought we performed quite well on Saturday and that was proven by securing 3 points. All the substitutes that came on made a real impact which was pleasing for me to see.
"Ali Crawford was unlucky not to start. He always trains very well and he proved he was the right man for the job with his 2 goals. We have a lot of players making good impressions coming off from the bench. That along with injured players coming back makes selections very difficult which is a good position to be in.
"Travelling to Parkhead is always an big challenge. For me the key is getting the right balance between attack and defence. We struggled to keep the ball in our game here at McDiarmid so that is something we want to build upon going into this game.
"Celtic love to get bodies forward and we need to try stop balls getting to their key players. However, we’re on a brilliant run of form. We go into the fixture 6 games unbeaten, we need to take that confidence into Saturday and we can hopefully get something positive."
Andy Considine’s thoughts
"Confidence will be a huge factor going into Saturday. Even during our time off, we have had bounce games which were really positive as was training. There’s a real belief in the camp which we will take to Celtic Park.
"The boys are looking forward to it, we will treat it like any other game. It’s going to be a really tough afternoon but we’re more than capable of going to Glasgow and getting a good result.
"It was great to get back playing competitive football again last weekend. The boys were more than ready for it. We dominated the majority of the game. Once we had the ball and took control I always felt we would take the 3 points back to McDiarmid Park."
