Bozo Mikulic: The win was the important thing

Defender Bozo Mikulic scored his first St Johnstone goal at the weekend – but was just delighted it resulted in three points for the team.

The big Croatian defender struck in the 88th minute with a neat finish from close range and not long after youngster Taylor Steven had pulled us level.

Bozo said: “Nice feeling. Nice evening. Congratulations to my team-mates and to the fans for supporting us the whole game.

“It was a tough match against a good opponent. The game started the wrong way with the unlucky handball but we were good after that and controlled situations. In the end, we are very happy.

“The coach told us at half-time that we were okay, we were in the game and that we just needed to do the right things on the pitch.”

On his goal specifically, he added: “It helped the team take three points. We are still bottom of the table and we need to collect more points in the next matches. We will never give up.

“We are in a tough position so three points means a lot in front of our fans. Everyone was happy for me – thanks for that – but it was just important we won the game.

“The fans have been supporting us during a tough period. I hope they went home happy on Saturday evening.”
