CO-OPERATIVE INSURANCE CUP TRAIL STARTS TONIGHT
26th July 2016
The Co-operative Insurance Cup has given Saints fans and players alike some memorable matches in recent seasons and tonight we embark on the 2010/2011 competition with a home second round tie against Morton at McDiarmid Park.
Saints will head into the match without several key players – goalkeeper Peter Enckelman, and midfielders Jody Morris and Liam Craig all miss out through injury.
Defender Steven Anderson is free of suspension and available to manager Derek McInnes who says of tonight’s tie: “Success in cup competitions is a key element of what I want to achieve at this club.
The semi-final stages of both the League Cup and Scottish Cup have given Saints fans some great days in recent seasons and I would like us to experience more of the same this season.â€
Morton are now managed by former Perth wing hero Allan Moore and will bring in their squad defender Stuart McCaffrey who, of course, only left Saints a few weeks ago. Former Saints keeper Kevin Cuthbert is also likely to be in the travelling party.
Tonight’s match kicks-off at 7.45pm. The East and West Stand will be open with Morton fans accommodated in the north end of the West Stand.
Prices for all stands are:
Adults - £15
Over 65s and 16-18 year olds - £10
Under 16s - £5
The tie will be played to a finish with extra-time and penalties if required.
