DEL'S THOUGHTS ON THE ROUT OF RANGERS

26th July 2016

Derek McInnes speaks after the 4-1 win last night

Derek McInnes described himself as being “absolutely delighted” with last night’s spectacular 4-1 defeat of Rangers.

Goals from Cillian Sheridan, Chris Millar, Liam Craig and Murray Davidson secured a famous victory – our first over the Ibrox side in the league since 2000 and the first time we have ever scored four goals against them – to virtually secure our SPL status and to take us just two points behind a place in the top six.

Del said after the game: “I was so pleased with efforts of the players and they responded well again to a defeat. Saturday’s loss at Hamilton was poor – we all know we are better than we showed that day but the appetite was back tonight and we thoroughly deserved the win.”

Full of praise for all his players, the manager couldn’t resist singling out the contribution of Jody Morris whose performance he described as “a master class” and add that Cillian’s goal was “a bit special.”

“There was the effort and organisation that I had asked for tonight “ Derek continued. “We learned from our game against them in perth earlier in the season and that is progress for us.”
