CHARACTER NEEDED TO GET BACK ON TRACK

26th July 2016

St Mirren head to Perth tomorrow.

It’s the battle of the Saints at McDiarmid Park tomorrow as we welcome St Mirren to McDiarmid Park.

The Perth Saints are looking to end a run of three games without a win and more specifically to put last week’s self-inflicted defeat at Ibrox behind them.

Derek McInnes is determined not to let the club’s lengthy injury list detract from the job in hand but the fact remains that he is definitely without some key personnel and others are struggling.

Martin Hardie, Kevin Rutkiewicz and Collin Samuel have been the recent additions to the long-term injury list which already had Steven Milne and Andy Jackson on it.

Defenders Danny Grainger and Stuart McCaffrey have not trained this week although Steven Anderson did manage to train yesterday and in today’s frost-affected session.

However, McInnes stresses “In juries are not helpful but there is no point in moaning about it. I said at the start of the season that I felt we had a squad capable of making an impact in this league and every member of that squad now has to stand up and offer a contribution if called upon.

“The best way to get a bit of confidence into the camp is to stick together and win a game, starting tomorrow against St Mirren.”
