SHOW RACISM THE RED CARD POSTER CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED
26th July 2016
St. Johnstone Football Club, Perth & Kinross Council and UNISON have this week launched an anti-racism poster campaign.
The annual, national anti-racism campaign, Show Racism the Red Card Fortnight of Action, took place last month across the UK. St. Johnstone joined SPFL clubs in taking a stand against racism and bigotry at their games during that period.
Saints supporters attending the club’s next home game on 22 November against Ross County will receive a copy of the official Show Racism the Red Card poster showing the Scottish Cup winners. The posters will also be distributed widely across Perth and Kinross by Perth & Kinross council.
Councillor Douglas Pover, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: “I am very pleased to continue our support of this extremely important campaign. We have a long-standing positive relationship with Show Racism the Red Card and their work with St. Johnstone’s Community Coaching Team continues to promote the message that racism and discrimination is unacceptable in this area. The Community Coaching Team has recently begun a programme of anti-racism educational workshops and these always are proving to be very popular.â€
In addition, the Council’s local Community Safety Partnership will partner with UNISON to renew their joint sponsorship of the Show Racism the Red Card trackside advertising billboard at McDiarmid Park.
