SAINTS GEARED UP FOR SKY SPORTS SPOTLIGHT
26th July 2016
McDiarmid Park falls under the national spotlight this evening when Sky Sports takes the live broadcast of the Saints v Aberdeen match.
This is the game which fell victim to the fog in the first week in November and although today sees a biting wind sweeping across Perth, the pitch is soft and it is fair for the game.
The time between the original scheduled date and tonight has seen mixed fortunes for the clubs concerned with Saints, for the most part, enjoying the intervening weeks – a draw at Ibrox followed by wins over both Edinburgh clubs.
However, that good run of form was brought to a crashing half three days ago when Motherwell left McDiarmid Park with a comfortable 3-0 win under their belt, Steve Lomas’s first defeat since joining the club.
Aberdeen’s form since the postponed fixture has been less satisfactory for the Pittodrie faithful with defeats to Motherwell and Kilmarnock and draws against DunfermlineAthletic and St Mirren. That last-named game was on Saturday past and will have been particularly frustrating to Craig Brown and the players given the fact that they led the Paisley side 2-0 early in the game.
Lomas hopes that striker Fran Sandaza may be available for the game but if that is the case he is likely to be the only one returning – Kevin Moon, Cillian Sheridan, Jody Morris and Frazer Wright all remain out.
