ST JOHNSTONE V ST MIRREN - LIVE UPDATES

26th July 2016

Live updates from the clash of the Saints at McDiarmid Park

Attendance was 2939 with the away support numbering 433

King Farms man of the match is Jody Morris

90+3 - The referee blows his whistle and puts the game out of its misery. As always a game played with great spirit but with both teams electing to go 4-4-2 it was never going to be pretty and it certainly wasn't.

90+2 - Maybury gets yellow carded in the middle of the pitch after bringing down McGowan

90 - Haber skins Tesselar down the right wing but his cross in is met by the defence and cleared

90 - 4th Official indicates there are at least three minutes playing time added on

87 - Nearly disaster when Anderson loses the ball to McLean whose shot is parried by Enckelman but only as far as Hasselbaink who delays too long and Enckelman is able to retrieve the situation

84 - Substitutions for each side, St Mirren replace Thompson with Haddad and Saints pull off Liam and bring on Marcus Haber. Looks like they have switched to three up front in a brave move to wrestle the game back from the Paisley Saints

83 - Saints throw everything into the mix and Fran is cruelly denied by the slippery surface when about to shoot his foot goes out from under him

81 - GOAL! St Mirren break the offside trap and McLean fires a shot past the grasping Enckelman then earns a yellow card for his celebration 0-1

80 - As the rainfall gets heavier Hasselbaink skins Anderson but his shot is smothered by Dave Mackay and the pressure is off again

77 - Saints drive back at St Mirren and Murray D is fouled deep in their half. Craig's free kick floats perfectly for Cillian to head but goes just wide

75 - After just 2 minutes on the park Hasselbaink earns the game's first yellow card of the afternoon when he takes out Anderson

74 - Maybury clatters into Carey who's tumbling rolls would have got him a maximum score in the gymnastic floor exercises

73 - St Mirren substitution, McShane off and Hasselbaink on

71 - Murray Davidson replaces Kevin Moon and is greeted by a cheering East Stand

70 - Cillian picks up a through ball but his attempted chip of Samson is not good enough

67 - Cillian picks up the ball and runs at the defence for the first time, gets round them all but his attempted cross to Fran is knocked out for a corner by van Zanten as the rain starts sweeping the length of the pitch

66 - Craig's corner finds Cillian and his goal-bound shot is somehow worked round the post by a desperate Samson whose reflective orange kit is starting to reveal the amount of work he is having to do

65 - Fran makes a mazy run into the box but cannot get his shot away, eventually the ball goes out for a corner.

62 - Saints must have been watching the SuperJ's half time kickabout match for they are starting to show the skills they all have with a fine piece of play between Jody and Liam down the left wing, several passes going between them before Liam's cross into the box is just out of Fran's reach

60 - St Mirren back on the attack and Carey's in-swinger from the left wing misses everyone to go out for a goal kick

59 - Corner Saints but Craig's cross in is snaffled by the red shirted St Mirren defence

57 - van Zanten plays a through ball to McLean who is clear in front of goals but a superbly timed flying lunge by Jody clears the ball

56 - St Mirren break back and Tesselar collides with Liam Craig on the edge of the box and is awarded a free kick. From his Mair heads well over the bar.

54 - Liam gets the ball into the St Mirren box but just cannot turn on the pitch and is robbed as he attempts to shoot

53 - Jody chases down a loose ball in the St Mirren box and Samson's lazy clearance attempt cannons off the high flying midfielder and drops just wide of the goals

49 - Saints spark up and a perfectly weighted pass from substitute Alan Maybury (on for Frazer Wright who limped off at half time) finds Fran on the edge of the box but his first timer shaves the outside of the far upright with Samson grasping at air

47 - A mazy McLean dribble through the Saints midfield sees him fire off a shot from just inside the box which Enckelman does well to scopp over the bar, from the ensuing corner the ball is cleared back into the battlefield that is the middle of the park

45 - Saints get the second half under way kicking towards the Ormond Stand

45 - With no added time the game limps into half time like a three legged dog. Let's hope we get better fare in the second half

42 - A rare moment of excitement there as Fran slips on the greasy surface and St Mirren pick uo the loose ball which sees Goodwin loose off a fine one that has Enckelman diving to hold

36 - St Mirren break down the middle of the park but Anderson stands strong and times his tackle in the box to perfection for Jody to clear

32 - A well worked ball finds Fran in the penalty box and his shot to the near post sends Samson sprawling to the turf but can only block it. With both teams thinking the ball had gone behind for a goal kick Fran picks it up again and slips it to Craig but his return pass is adjudged to be offside against Fran. Good to see Saints getting stuck into this game at last

28 - Corner Saints and Craig's in-swinger is saved by Samson, the resulting clearance kick finds McLean and his first time shot send Enckelman sprawling to save. First time either keeper has been troubled so far

26 - A back pass finds Samson in two minds and his attempted clearance goes out for a throw in. Callum Davidson throws to Craig who puts in a cheeky wee chip for Sandaza to fire in just taking the paint surface off the far post

24 - Free kick to Saints just outside the penalty box, Enckelman takes and is headed on by Sheridan but teh ball skids off the wet surface for a goal kick before Fran can get there

21 - Carey launches another free kick which Enckelman watches past his right hand upright

17 - From the clearance the ball is passed upfield and Fran slides a nice cross in from the bye line but one of the efenders toe punts it away only to be handled by another. From the free kick, Jody, on his 100th start, taps the ball and Mackay's goal bound shot is deflected by a defender for Samson to gather quite easily

16 - Corner St Mirren taken by Carey but easily cleared up by the Saints defence

13 - Enckelman, on his 50th start for the club, drop kicks the ball down the park where Sheridan heads it on but Sandaza is just beaten to the ball by Samson

11 - Referee awards St Mirren yet another free kick but van Zanten just floats it out for a goal kick

10 - Harsh decision from the assistant in the East Stand giving Fran Sandaza offside just inside the St Mirren half on one of our rare forays into their territory.

5 - A van Zanten cross is beautifully blocked by own of his own players with McGowan taking it in the breadbasket and appears to be in some discomfort now

4 - St Mirren having the best of the play keeping us penned into our own half so far

1 - Looks to be a lively game, corner to St Mirren and Steven Anderson gets a tongue lashing from referee Norris

St Mirren kick off with Super Saints playing towards the North Stand
