CLUB PUBLICATION OVERHAUL READY FOR LAUNCH

Saints break new ground this weekend when they launch two new publications – a scaled-down match day programme consisting of 20 pages and costing just £1 plus the first edition of a new quarterly magazine.

The magazine called, simply, SJFC Magazine and printed by Perth printer Farquhar and Sons hits the shelves at the stadium for Saturday’s opening home match against Rangers and will also be available from outlets across Perth and Kinross thanks to the club’s extensive network of newsagent Super Saints Lotto agents.

The first edition includes interviews with players Dave Mackay and Sean Higgins, articles on the new playing surface, the new Under 19 players and the work of the Ticket Office plus quizzes, pages for younger fans, a guest columnist and photos of the pre-season build up. Topped up with some articles of historic interest, the 40 page publication, priced at £3.95, is sure to be of interest to Saints fans everywhere.

The move has come on the back on falling sales of the match day programme which prompted the club to run an online survey to find out what supporters would like.

Saints Commercial Manager Paul Smith said “Clubs across the UK are battling to arrest falls in sales of their match day programmes and the feedback we received from fans is that a programme costing £2.50 or £3 is one of the things they are sacrificing in order to keep the overall cost of match days down. We are the first SPL club to go down the route of a 20 page £1 programme containing only what could be termed ‘match day essentials’ and we hope that will encourage people to buy one.

“However, we were keen to ensure that Saints fans still have the chance to read plenty about their club and so we have launched SJFC Magazine which will be quarterly and provide some of the material we have removed from the programme plus lots more besides.”
