PLENTY TO PLAY FOR AT PITTODRIE
26th July 2016
Saints head to Pittodrie tomorrow for the penultimate away match of the season but with the teams just two points apart in the SPL table this is no end of season affair – not with eighth, ninth and tenth places in the league to be sorted out between Saints, the Dons and Hibs. With those placings comes additional revenue plus a seeded spot in next season’s League Cup for the seventh and eighth teams.
Saints have free of suspension duo Michael Duberry and Steven Anderson available again but Collin Samuel, Graham Gartland and Jody Morris remain sidelined through injury. Arvydas Novikovas has been allowed to return to Hearts ahead of the end of the season.
“There is still plenty to play for†says manager Derek McInnes. “I want us to end the season with a flourish and we made a good start in that respect at Easter Road and the players now have to take the lift they received from that into tomorrow’s match.
“Ourselves, Hibs and Aberdeen are all building towards next season now so as well as the league placings it is about some of the players showing that they have the desire to wish to remain involved.†TOMORROW’S GAME:
