TIME LINE FROM EASTER ROAD
26th July 2016
The scenes of celebration at the end are far in excess of what you would expect for a simple league win but the relief for all is plain to see as fans celebrate and the players and manager hug on the pitch to finally bring some light onto what has been a dark few weeks. MATCH REPORT TO FOLLOW
90 + 3 mins - It's all over! Sints have won it with that late goal.
Jordan Robertson made it with a great reverse pass to Jackson whose effort came off the cross bar, Liam Criag retrieved it and pushed it back across the face of goal and Mooner stroked it home from 2 yards Hibs 1 Saints 2
90 + 2 mins - GOAL ST JOHNSTONE!!!! Kevin Moon has won it right at the death!!!
90 mins - Maybury shoots wide as Saints press. There will be three additional minutes. Saints deserve a draw here.
88 mins - Riordan is on Hibs and Jordan Robertson replaces Peter MacDonald.
87 mins - A great chance for Saints as Maybury's cross to the far post finds Jackson who rolls it to MacDonald but his shot is blocked.
85 mins - Corner to Hibs after Stevenson's shot is deflected. When the ball come sin Enckelman comes to punch it clear which he does, taking out Dave Mackay in the process. The cleared ball is returned but a deflection take sit for another corner which proves fruitless.
83 mins - Kevin Moon fires wide from 20 yards when well placed.
81 mins - Hibs break quickly aafter Maybury loses possession in the middle of the park but a good cross has not takers and Enckelman gathers Towel''s final effort.
77 mins - A Maybury cross is headed away for a corner kick and it should have worked again - Grainger's corner is met by Gartland but he can't keep his header down.
76 mins - Graham Gartland is booked for a crude attempt to halt Vaz Te
The relief is obvious - the goal celebrations, the reaction of the fans and the management team - it's great to see. Whatever the outcome of this game, that monkey is finally off our back.
74 mins - GOAL ST JOHNSTONE!!!! The wait is over! Liam Craig has powerfully headed home Danny Grainger's corner kick.
73 mins - A Jackson shot is deflected away for a corner by Hanlon.
71 mins - Gartland provides a great block to charge down a shot from fellow-sub Wotherspoon.
69 mins - Both sides are making changes: Graham Gartland in on for Murray Davidson while Hibs goal scorer Sodje is replaced by David Wotherspoon
66 mins - By my calculations we have now gone 1,100 minutes without a goal.
64 mins - Liam Craig and Chris Millar combine to open up a chance for Alan Maybury but he blasts wildly over - our big problem very visibly illustrated.
62 mins - Liam Craig replaces Danny Invincibile.
62 mins - Hibs hit the post Martin Scott down the right sets up Akpo Sodje and his angled drive beats Enckleman and cannons off the sinside of the far post and away - not unlike Alan Maybury's effort last Monday.
60 mins - A Callum Booth cross is well gathered by Enckelman.
58 mins - A Kevin Moon shot is charged away. We don't deserve to be losing this but we need to find a goal.
57 mins - Danny Grainger comes as close to a goal as anything we have seen recently - a curling free kick from wide right eluding everyone and sneaking past the far post.
55 mins - Vaz Te is yellow carded for a late challenge on Danny Grainger. It looks mis-timed rather than malicious.
54 mins - Chances for Hibs as Vaz Te misses the ball and Richie Towell finally blasts the ball wide.
52 mins - Murray Davidson tries a low drive from 22 yards and it isn't too far away.
51 mins - Martin Scott holds off Kevin Moon and gets in a shot but it is across the face of goal
48 mins - Saints are left exposed by a quickly taken Paul Hanlon free kick who exhanges passes down the left Callum Booth but the final ball into the box is easily gathered by Enckelman.
The second half is underway and there are no changes in either line-up. Saints are now shooting towards the Perth fans.
45 + 1 min - Good work by Peaso and Jacko brings a corner kick but there is insufficient time to make anything of it. HALF-TIME
45 mins - There will be one additional minute.
44 mins - Martin Scott is booked for hauling back a charging Danny Grainger
40 mins - Dickoh heads wide from a Booth free kick.
39 mins - Frustrating as that goal may have been in terms of the pattern of play, we have yet to force a save from Jakub Divis.
33 mins - Vaz Te bursts through the Perth defence but Enckelman gathers after the Hibs man takes a heavy touch.
That goal was a blow as it was so against the general pattern of play. The Manager will be annoyed at how easily it came about from a defence shorn of Michael Duberry and Steven Anderson.
25 mins - Free kick wide right to Hibs after Vaz Te goes down under the softest of Danny Grainger challenges. Saints clear.
23 mins - GOAL HIBERNIAN. So simple. The long, diagonal ball from the left back position sees Akpo Sodje latch onto it and lift it over Enckelman. Hibs 1 Saints 0
22 mins - First serious action for Peter Enckelman who tips over a rasping, rising Vaz Te shot.
20 mins - Good stuff from Saints who are doing most of the pressing. MacDonald blasts an effort over but he is offside in any case.
18 mins - Corner to Saints won by Andy Jackson who held up a Grainger long throw. The corner is cleared bu only to Kevin Moon who loops it to the back post but there are no takers.
17 mins - Free kick to Hibs after Adams holds onto Sodje in a challenge. Vaz Te's 35 free kick is met by the head of Dickoh but it is over the bar.
15 mins - Peter MacDonald advances and plays it wide left to Andy Jackson but his cross drifts well wide.
13 mins - Chris Millar plays in Andy Jackson to the byeline but his cut back cannons off a Paul Hanlon.
10 mins - Decent start from Saints who have knocked it around well
6 mins - Sodje breaks down the right and releases Vaz Te into space but Jamie Adams produces a great tackle.
4 mins - Chance for Saints as Andy Jackson bursts through the middle but is halted. The ball goes wide to Chris Millar whose cross to the back post is met by Peter MacDonald but his header is straight at Jakub Divis in the home goal.
2 mins - The ball is in the air a lot early one - Saints are shooting towards the home stand at the north end.
Jamie Adams is partnering Dave Mackay in the centre of defence
3.00pm - It looks like we will start bang-on time - a rarity these days!
2.58pm - The teams emerge onto the pitch......Dave Mackay is the captain.
2.55pm - Welcome to Easter Road for today's match. It's sunny but there is a chill wind blowing (isn't there always in Edinburgh?!). A quick head count reveals around 160 Saintees in the South Stand at the moment ready to cheer the side on and there are still a few coming in.
Welcome to Edinburgh for this afternoon's match against Hibs at Easter Road.
Derek McInnes has made four changes to the starting line-up from the one which went down to Caley Thistle on Easter Monday: Peter Enckelman is back in goal, Jamie Adams and Kevin Moon come in for Graham Gartland and Liam Craig while up front Peter MacDonald replaces Stevie May. That leaves the Saintees line-up looking like this: Enckelman, Maybury, Grainger, MacKay, Davidson, Adams, Moon, Millar, Invincibile,Jackson, MacDonald. Subs: Smith, Durnane, Gartland, Craig, May, Reynolds, Robertson.
The Hibs team is: Divis, Towell, Palsson, Dickoh, Hanlon, Stephens, Booth, Scott, Stevenson,Vaz Te, Sodje. Subs: Brown, Miller, Riordan, Wotherspoon, Taggart, Galbraith, Hart
