PLAYERS DETERMINED TO TURN THE CORNER
26th July 2016
Saints head to Easter Road tomorrow for the first of three away matches in the post-split fixture card and they do so determined to turn the corner in terms of results and addressing the well-publicised inability to score.
Although bitterly disappointed at the soft goals lost on Easter Monday and concerned at the apparent willingness of some of the players to accept that things were not going our way when the second goal against Caley Thistle was lost, Manager Derek McInnes has this week been emphasising the positives from Monday’s display while working hard on the training pitch to end the barren run.
That approach is reflected in Alan Maybury’s comments to the Saints Official Website after training when he said: “The bigger we make the issue of the lack of goals the harder it will become to end the run. We have to head to Easter Road determined to get the first goal which would give us a great lift in confidence or if we don’t get that then we make sure we get the second one and we have to do that over the entire 90 minutes.â€
The defender (pictured in training with Jamie Adams) continued: “We are all determined to turn things around and finish the season well. In my experience, if you do that then you also start the following season well. We have four matches left and still plenty of opportunity to make a positive impression.â€
Saints will be without Michael Duberry and Steven Anderson who both serve the second match of their two-games bans.
